NoDa's historic bungalows, many built between 1900 and 1930, are among the most fire-prone residential structures in the Charlotte metro. Original knob-and-tube wiring remains in a surprising number of these homes, hidden behind plaster-and-lath walls and often spliced into modern circuits by previous owners without permits.
